Harry Reems and Darby Lloyd Raines are a couple who have built up a thriving business around each ability to satisfy lovers of the opposite sex. They started out with a plain old escort service, but soon found out they could make more cash doing the kinky stuff.
So now they specialize in supplying well-paying customers with customized sexual services. The money’s rolling in and they seem to be very much in love, but trouble’s brewing. Society Affairs is the best X-rated film I’ve ever seen. Not only does it feature the most convincing performances I can recall in a porno flick, but the screenplay is interesting, amusing, and downright well written. This combination of assets, in addition to good production value, provides the best possible entertainment for your film dollars. If we had such standards, we’d give it four stars or “the fully erect member” or 98%, or just plain good show.
The wonderful success of Society Affairs is primarily due to two main ingredients: the combined forces of Harry Reems and Veronica Hart. Ironically, while Society Affairs marks the return to the smut screen of its long lost king, or at least grand duke, it is also the melancholy swan song of America’s sweetheart, Veronica Hart. As we all know, Veronica has given her all tot he porn industry over the last few years and has now retired to live a subdued married life. We could wail and bemoan Veronica’s decision, but why? She is in love, deliriously happy, and just feels that it’s time to move on. Mazeltov, Veronica…
So while Veronica disappears swanlike from the world of smut superstardom, Harry Reems, Phoenix-like, reappears on the screen, looking better than ever. Harry’s no youngster, but he shows that he still has what it takes to be a super-stud. The opening scenes of Society Affairs show off his splendid, tanned body, as he does chin ups and calisthenics. So that’s why he looks so good! Five minutes into the film, watching Reem’s acrobatics, I wondered if he’d be able to maintain that same level of enthusiasm during the sex scenes. Boy, does he ever! Usually a movie gets pretty monotonous if the same cock is featured scene after scene after scene, but not in Society Affairs. Each sex scene of Harry’s is so different, and the women so pretty and such good actresses, that you never wish for another male lead. Harry really pulls it off.
